Megan Germond

Full given name: Megan Leigh Germond

Where you were born/raised: Binghamton, Chenango Bridge, Johnson City

Zodiac Sign: Scorpio, fully and completely. Watch out.

First Broadway show you ever saw? I saw Cats when I was 8. I know everyone loathes that show, but I loved it and they let you go up onstage during intermission. So of course, I thought I was hot trash for getting to do that. When I got home, I used all of my mom’s makeup to create my own ‘cat’ face.

When did you first get involved in theatre? In 3rd grade, I auditioned for Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I got cast as Grumpy, and was none too pleased.

When did you first start performing with SRO? In 2003, Annie was my first show with SRO. It was my second go at community theater, and it was a HUGE change from what I’d done in high school, but I made a lot of really cool friends and had a great time.

If you had to pick which show would you say has been your favorite you've done with SRO? It’s a toss-up between two-three, for two different reasons. Jekyll & Hyde was amazing for me, because it was the best part I’ll probably ever have in my community theater run, but Assassins and All Shook Up were probably the most fun, onstage and off, that I’ve ever had in a show.

If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? The 10th Anniversary of Les Miserables. I had it on VHS and was borderline obsessed with it all through 6th and 7th grade. But it would have been gnarly to be there in person.

Some favorite modern musicals: Last Five Years, Spring Awakening

Some favorite classic musicals: Into The Woods, 1776, Les Mis, Grease

Favorite showtune(s) of all time: That’s like picking a favorite child, seriously. I’ll name a few though... Nobody Needs to Know, from Last Five Years; I Don’t Care Much, from Cabaret; Agony from Into the Woods; The Guilty Ones from Spring Awakening; I’m Free from Footloose

First stage kiss: It was supposed to be my friend Mike Andrako, when we were 14 during an acting workshop at the Cider Mill. But the day of the performance, we both completely chickened out. It ended up being Jake Wentlent in Jekyll & Hyde.

Something you're REALLY bad at: Faking how I feel. That’s such a lame answer, but you’d think as someone who acts and performs, they wouldn’t wear every emotion so easily on their sleeve. Nope. Not this chick.

Most visited websites: Redtube... just kidding. Facebook, Youtube, IMDB, Livejournal

Last book you read: Technically, I read a few paragraphs from 50 Shades, and was horrified. Seriously, I have no idea how that book is so popular. I can write way better smut than that. Last full book though was Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. It takes a lot for me to get into a book, but this one had me right away.

Must see TV shows: Family Guy, Law & Order: SVU, Reality Crap

Last good movie you saw? Lincoln. Daniel Day Lewis may be bat-sh*t crazy, but he is insane to watch. And kudos to hair and makeup in that movie, because he was creepily identical.

Some films you consider classics: Classics for me may not be the same for others, since I’m still somewhat young. But I consider a lot of Disney to be classic, especially between 1989 and 2000. They were awesome.

Do you have Pre-show rituals or warm-ups? I almost always listen to some good tunes... usually music that isn’t from the show, but that gets me in the mood of the show. During Jekyll & Hyde, there was a lot of Nine Inch Nails and Rammstein going on…

Pop culture guilty pleasure: Reality TV... I can’t stand it, but I have to catch it. Project Runway, Teen Mom, Storage Wars, HGTV…

What song is the most played on your iPod? I actually JUST joined the iPod masses, so there’s nothing on it right now. But we’ll go with most played song in general right now, and it’s called A House, A Home by a group called Allelujia Choir

Three things you can't live without: Friends, Family, Writing

What are some of your dream roles? Welp, I don’t have too many. I have a bunch of shows I’d love to do, without having a specific part. But when it comes to roles, I was lucky enough already to play Lucy in Jekyll, the only other “Drrream” role I have is The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods

What are some shows you'd love to see SRO to do? INTO THE WOODS!, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Sweeney Todd, Last Five Years, Rock of Ages, A Chorus Line, 1776, Les Mis
