Alex Mendoza

Full given name: Alexandra Macko

Where you were born/raised: Binghamton, NY

Zodiac Sign: Aquarius

First Broadway show you ever saw? I was in High School. I saw Hello Dolly with Carol Channing.

When did you first get involved in theatre? I didn't get involved into a musical until I was in 9th grade. I was in the chorus of Music Man. Prior to that I had only participated in Chorus. Unless you count my stellar ballet performance in 3rd grade.

When did you first start performing with SRO? I was in the first production SRO ever did back in the summer of 1984. It was Godspell; we had a cast of about 20. I was petrified at my audition and I don't think I did a very good job but they cast me regardless! I haven't stopped since.

If you had to pick which show would you say has been your favorite you've done with SRO? Oh gosh, that's soooo hard to say. I've had so many wonderful opportunities with SRO. But I can list a few...Godspell (the third production), Annie in Annie Get Your Gun, The Narrator inJoseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Nunsense, The Baker's Wife in Into the Woods. Ok I'll stop.

If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl or Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady, Yul Brenner in The King and I. Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly... did they do Broadway?

Some favorite modern musicals: Wicked, Mama Mia, Jersey Boys, Les Miserables (is that a classic now?)

Some favorite classic musicals: Hello Dolly, Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, Music Man.

Favorite showtune(s) of all time: I love anything from Les Mis but specifically; I Dreamed a Dream, All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera.

First stage kiss: Simon Brooking in our High School production of Bye, Bye Birdie. Something you're REALLY bad at: Math

Most visited websites: DSW (it's all about the shoes) and White House, Black Market (and the clothes) and Press Connects (it's all about the publicity)

Last book you read: I read the Twilight series. Ok, so I was unemployed at the time.

Must see TV shows: Smash, Revenge, Modern Family, Once Upon a Time, Biggest Loser Last good movie you saw? Lincoln, Les Miserables and I just watched Overboard on TV for the umpteenth time. What a funny movie with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.

Some films you consider classics: Bringing up Baby, Holiday Inn, Some Like it Hot, Singing in the Rain

Do you have Pre-show rituals or warm-ups? I pace back and forth somewhere backstage or find a quiet place away from the chaos and envision myself on stage. I review the words on my music every night right before I go on so I visually have them in my head. And I don't eat before a show ever but I drink lots of water and hot tea.

Pop culture guilty pleasure: Glee, Millionaire Matchmaker and Bill and Giuliana

What song is the most played on your iPod? Michael Jackson, Journey, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Prince. Hard to say the most played.

Three things you can't live without: My husband, family and my friends. My husband says it is vodka, triple sec, and cranberry. He's so funny...

Favorite Kander and Ebb musical? Chicago

What are some of your dream roles? Elphaba in Wicked, Fantine in Les Mis, Mama Rose in Gypsy and one of the gals in Mama Mia.

What are some shows you'd love to see SRO to do? Mama Mia, Les Mis other than that we've done most of my favorites!
