SRO Prductions III was started in 1983 to address the need for community theater in the Broome County area. Pooling the talents and financial resources of the community, the company was able to produce its first musical, GODSPELL.

In addition, SRO has also sponsored acting workshops and camps, as well as technical workshops for those community people interested in the backstage workings of a theatrical production. SRO Productions III joined forces with the Discovery Center in the summer of 1992 to begin a theater and playwriting program for children. This program proved to be quite rewarding and successful. At the request of The Discovery Center, SRO produced its first video, THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES. The video played in The Discovery Center's legal exhibit for some time.

Throughout the last decade, SRO has worked with a variety of community groups providing the pooling of talents and resources with such as Dance Connection, Jan DeAngelo and Company, and Tongue 'n' Cheek LTD. Our most recent joint venture was THE JOURNEY during the summer of 2006 with Dance Connection.

SRO has taken several shows on tour. They have performed at local venues such as The Binghamton Club and The Binghamton Country Club, as well as farther away in New Berlin and Sayre, PA. SRO is also a regular participant at FIRST NIGHT BINGHAMTON and has been the recipient of many grants and local awards.

One of SRO's current goals for the coming year is securing a permanent performance space.
